Mayor Mamdani Scoops Out $1.5 Million for Pet Food Pantries and Spay/Neuter Programs for NYC'S Furry Friends in 2027 Budget

Mayor Mamdami created a budget of $750,000 for pet food pantries in all 5 boroughs in NYC. This is the first ever that the city created a food allowance for pets. This was out of a budget of $1.5 million that was equally divided between offering food and spay/neutering services. The money is to help pet parents and animal rescuers. This budget is one million over that of last year. The goal is to have publicly funded pet food pantries plus low cost spay/neuter and vet clinics accessible in every borough.
